2024 recap

My year in review

Dec 12, 2024

My girls

Another year has passed, and I’m always amazed by how much can happen in just 12 months. The headlines this year were dominated by ongoing tensions in the Middle East and Ukraine, contrasting sharply with uplifting events like the Euros in Germany and the Olympics in Paris. As the year drew to a close, Trump was re-elected, the crypto market went wild, Assad had to flew from Syria, and the German government decided for early elections—all against the backdrop of AI steadily advancing toward AGI.

While relying on surfing the web to stay ahead of trends, focusing on my own little world can be a bit challenging. However, engaging with social networks brings me regularly new clients. This year, I was fortunate to collaborate with California-based companies Bauplan, Honey Homes, and Shopsense. One of my proudest moments was winning a Grimme Online Award as part of the navos create team for our multidisciplinary project Library of Lost Books.

On the side, I quietly rebooted my UI kit, Bica, gave it a new name—Beans—and transformed the Bica brand into an umbrella for all my templates. I’m excited to expand the catalog in the coming years. Let’s see where it goes.

Spending so much time in front of screens makes me yearn for a change of scenery, which is why I always cherish our family vacations. In May, we took a two-hour drive north from Berlin, found ourselves surrounded by beautiful lakes, and stayed at a family hotel for a few days. It was a delightful experience, despite the absurd number of mosquitoes. In September, we returned to the ever-enchanting Isla Balearic, Mallorca.

Driving through sunny Mediterranean villages or working from home on rainy days, music was a constant companion. This year, I curated two playlists: one filled with dreamy songs for escapists and the other featuring my favorite tracks released this year.
