The Library of Lost Books is an international project initiated by the Leo Baeck Institute Jerusalem to shed light on the Higher Institute for Jewish Studies in Berlin. During the Holocaust, the Institute’s unique library was looted by the Nazis and its 60,000 volumes scattered across the world.
Alongside online and physical exhibitions, the project includes a citizen-science initiative inviting people to help trace the missing books. I supported the team by wireframing and prototyping the interactive database that makes this global search possible. Books have since been rediscovered in Germany, the Czech Republic, Israel, the United States, and Britain.
The project was honored with a Grimme Online Award.
„Felix joined us as an external UX expert and, as always, quickly adapted, understanding the domain challenges and establishing excellent communication with all stakeholders involved. His structured approach and expertise, ranging from high-fidelity wireframes to a fully clickable prototype, helped the client validate key ideas early on and move forward with confidence. Felix was a crucial cornerstone of this project. Without him, it would not have achieved such great, award-winning success.“
